Utah gives Hollywood a Run for its Money as Park City Film Studio Opens This Fall

imagesThe Sundance Film Festival was on of the first film festivals to showcase films in the midwest instead of New York or Hollywood. Films that debut in Utah at the Sundance Film Festival often go on to receive critical acclaim and receive prestigious awards. It makes perfect sense that Park City, Utah, famous for its incredible film festival, would also become a hotspot for creating films.

A massive movie studio is setting up shop in Park City. It will include three soundstages, special effects stages, and digital media offices. The Park City Film Studio will focus specifically on digital films and will have the most cutting edge digital film making technology. The Film Studio will also have a film school, partnering with Utah Valley University and feature restaurants, a hotel and a guitar museum. The new film studio will make Park City a major film production hub all year round.

One of the major reasons the Park City Film Studio will focus on digital film technology is because digital film productions are cheaper to film and costs on these films are easier to manage.

Production costs are typically the largest barrier for beginning film makers, and one of the top concerns during production for films of all sizes.
